Commissioning a bespoke hat is a special experience. At Bespoke Millinery, we aim to make the process as enjoyable and inspiring as the final piece itself. Whether it’s for Royal Ascot, a wedding, or a standout occasion, your custom headpiece will be designed and handcrafted with your personality, style, and event in mind.

1. The Initial Enquiry

Everything begins with a simple enquiry. Whether you contact us via our commission form or email, we’ll respond promptly to understand your needs. We’ll ask for details such as the occasion, your outfit, colour preferences, budget, and timelines.

2. Personal Consultation

You can choose either an in-person consultation at our London studio or a virtual meeting via video call. During the consultation, we’ll get to know your style and personality, discuss design ideas, and view any reference images or swatches you may have. We’ll also measure your head to ensure a perfect, comfortable fit.

3. Design Development

Based on the consultation, we’ll sketch out ideas and suggest suitable shapes, fabrics, and trimmings. We’ll also discuss embellishments like feathers, veils, flowers, or crystals — depending on your preferences and the tone of your event.

4. Fabric & Material Selection

Once the design is agreed, we’ll carefully select luxurious materials that complement your outfit and suit the season. Whether it’s sinamay, felt, silk, or straw, all our materials are of the highest quality.

5. The Making Process

Your hat is then handcrafted by our milliner using traditional techniques. Every stitch, fold, and flourish is created with precision and passion. This process can take 2–4 weeks depending on the complexity of the design.

6. Fitting & Finishing

If you’re local, we may arrange a fitting before final completion to make sure everything sits perfectly. If you’re working with us remotely, we’ll send progress photos and videos to keep you updated throughout the journey.

7. Delivery or Collection

Once complete, your bespoke hat will be beautifully packaged and either delivered securely to your address or made available for collection from our studio.
